Welcome to Alimodian, Iloilo

There is so significantly to like about Alimodian, a smaller municipality in Iloilo Province. Although Alimodian is only about twenty-five kilometers from Iloilo City, Alimodian is truly a earth aside, a very, quiet city with an alpine come to feel. Alimodian is surrounded by hills and a little bit further more by mountains. Most anything is very well preserved, the streets and plaza totally free from litter, displaying that the citizens have delight in their local community. Alimodian’s previous stone Spanish Church and plaza are the centerpieces. A rare Spanish period stone arch bridge is preventing for survival.

On February 16, 2008 four of us set off to discover two hill towns in Iloilo Province Alimodian and Leon. Significantly of the rapid location around Iloilo Metropolis is pretty flat so we were being nervous to get up in to the hill region. We started off out from our house in Molo and drove the National Highway west to the rather town of Oton. At Oton we turned off the National Freeway onto what is regionally named the Oton-Sta. Clara Street. It commences at Barangay Buray and heads north by Sta. Rita, Sta Monica, Biaga and Sta. Rita. Not extended soon after leaving Oton the countryside will become extremely “bundok”, a countryside of nipa homes and the street pretty tough. Sta. Monica is a fairly minor location. Not lengthy following Biaga the terrain become hillier. Subsequent we turned onto the road to Alimodian. That street climbs reasonably to the town.

Alimodian’s altitude is only about 100 meters above sea amount but it has the sense of a mountain city simply because of the hills that rise around it, specifically to the west. The climate on the day of our trip was comparatively amazing and Alimodian appeared cooler than the city.

We dwell quite shut to Molo Plaza, seriously just about the only park land readily available to tens of thousands of Molo inhabitants. It is just liked and utilized to dying, just about generally stuffed with schoolkids, the terrain so employed it’s scruffed to raw dirt. Nothing at all could endure all the use that park will get. How blessed are the individuals of areas like Alimodian who have inherited, preserved and maintained so nicely a rather town park at the centre of the neighborhood!

The town’s Spanish heritage has been preserved.  It has a large Plaza dominated by has an outdated Spanish church, the municipal corridor and other public properties.  Though the significant previous church was decimated, as other Panay setting up ended up by the massive earthquake of 1948 it was not torn down.  The surviving pieces have been saved, treasured, restored and supplemented by new design sympathetic with the unique.  The overall impression is of impassioned stewardship and delight.  Let’s hope the exact same spirit will save the quite beautiful and historic Eloisa bridge which is imperiled by proposal to replace alternatively than conserve this uncommon survivor.

Through our check out to Alimodian we ended up so amazed with the actual performing of the group.  So many towns have the various equipages of municipal existence (libraries, senior centers, day care facilities and so forth) but which are not seriously operating.  In Alimodian these all seemed to be alive with activity.   Hence, Alimodian appeared to be a truly performing tiny municipality, not just an Iloilo suburb which the life has gone out of.
