In the previous months weather conditions bought better in the southern Philippines. The airlines (apart from Pest Air) showed no extra cancellations from and to Laguindingan Airport (CGY) around Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.
Remaining in Cagayan de Oro we had the plan to check out the airport and attract an up to date photo. We drove with our own vehicle from the really center of Cagayan de Oro, from the Divisoria to the airport.
Driving to Opol experienced been fantastic as typical. The “Pier Seafood Restaurants” seemed silent inviting, but we experienced to go to Laguindingan. At Alubijid I noticed a street indication displaying “AIRPORT – gentle automobiles“. Why not? My Toyota Innova is not a heavy truck, I thought.
That is not a highway but a “Paris-Dakar Rally Schooling Camp”! Below it is:
Indeed, we are on the right highway to the Airport
Does this keep track of go to Dakar?
Gloriously we arrived at the new CGY airport.
We then uncovered that there is a genuine 4 lane freeway likely to Laguindingan Airport (read through afterwards).
I do not have faith in those people guys!
This sign exhibits on the best (hand created): Flagfall PHP 40, Succeding PHP 3.50. Succeding what? Usually it’s 300 meters in the Philippines. From the airport to the centre of Cagayan de Oro it is 36 kilometers. This usually means 36/.3×3.40 + 40 Pisos = PHP 448. The volume on the foundation of the signal corresponds: PHP 450.00
That would be right, but there is a good deal of paid waiting around time. I wanted 1 hour 30 for the 36 kilometers from the airport to downtown Cagayan de Oro.
Remembering the fares from previous Lumbia, I have the poor emotion that there is somewhere a concealed filthy trick I do not still know. Probably?
The vans are less expensive.
The vans from CGY airport to downtown Cagayan de Oro price from 130 to 170 Pesos per passenger. But vans only depart when they are entire. If you need to have a rapidly transfer, then the fare of the lacking passengers up to “complete” is questioned to be compensated by the passengers on board. In Cagayan you are dropped both at the Centrio Mall or at the Agora Bus Station.
This is the new airport accessibility road to Laguindingan Airport (CGY) close to Cagayan de Oro. The 1st 5 kilometers up to the National Freeway are an excellent 4 lane freeway. All the roads and parking areas all-around the airport are outstanding. So you should, do not just take the shortcut in Alubijid as I did. The National Highway to Opol and Cagayan will require an additional 12 to 18 months to be at the very least 3 lanes. And then? Pedicabs, Motorelas and Jeepneys? But which is the Philippines. From time to time it is even far more enjoyable.
