Philippines Image Montage 4.23.15

Note:  Sara and I wanted to thank absolutely everyone for conveying their condolences in excess of the the latest passing of her father.  It is very much appreciated and we are thankful for you all getting the time to post your type and supportive feedback.

We are also nonetheless working on acquiring footage of the residence creating for the families who had been evicted when Sara was in Mindanao.  They (Nikki, Euie, Nano, et. al.) are now remaining nearby and are getting a plot of land on which to develop the home.  We will maintain you up-to-date as to how items went.

And now listed here are some a lot more pictures that we have been taking of the sights to see all-around the Philippines.  We bought a Sony Cybershot W300 a although again and have been attempting to determine out how to use it – hence far with no much success.  So, with out any further ado, let’s get down to it.

Figure out this handsome fellow?  This was (somewhat clearly) taken at night along the boulevard and as you can see, we haven’t quite figured out the small-light settings still.  Still have not, truly.  Got to work on the framing as well – the big acacia tree developing out of my giant fore(five)head just isn’t amazing.

Sara generally makes image search far better, even when we ended up however functioning on the low-mild configurations.  The lights in the upper appropriate facet of the image are of the port facility.  This was a single of all those evenings on the boulevard that you really do not quickly fail to remember – the temperature was just proper and a refreshing breeze was coming in over the seawall.  A ideal minute in the Philippines.   ?

At any time consider a image you know you will be in a position to use to bribe anyone in the not-as well-distant potential.  This is just one of them.  I can hear it now, “Andrew, if you really don’t end jumping up and down on the roof, we are heading to pass all over that photo to all your faculty mates…..”

This was taken that early morning that I took the early morning online video together the beach front in Dumaguete.  Some fisherman experienced just arrive in and ended up clearing out their nets.  These individual minor fish are quite well-known when dried and afterwards fried.  Yep, they are one particular type of the dreaded and lethal dried fish…..  I nonetheless haven’t been profitable in my tries to really consume some, but just one working day I will eventually get earlier the smell and try out this exotic delicacy.

I framed this a single with the sunshine in the track record on function.  I thought it would be neat to see the fisherman silloutted versus the early morning sun, and I assume it arrived out really properly.  I will possibly next have to have to discover how to use Photoshop or some other image enhancing software to perform on distinction and all that….

I went down to the market one early morning to check out the new digicam shortly after we got it.  I took a Great deal of pictures there and was actively playing all-around with the settings a ton.  Some of the photographs came out really well, some of the other people not so much….  Fruit is plentiful in the Philippines.  It is a great deal additional costly than the greens right here, and the apples are not subjected to the chemical compounds and sprucing that Western apples are subjected to, so they are not as large and shiny.  Still very good, though…

Ate has listed here wares out for early morning purchasers.  The community marketplace in Dumaguete is divided into 4 fundamental sections  – the damp marketplace (fish, beef, pork), make market place (veggies and fruits), the carrendaria/resto place,  and the dry items current market in which you can get a haircut, store for hammocks,  or acquire some pirated DVDs and “Oakley” sun shades.  Most of general public markets in the Philipppines have the same standard structure.

The value of rice has actually absent up in the previous 5 a long time.  I have a photograph someplace from five decades earlier when rice was in the 20-30 peso for every kilo array.  You can also see how Critically Filipinos choose their rice – there are all sorts of unique strains, with some superior end boutique varieties going for around 50 pesos a kilo.  Being a Westerner with useless taste buds,  I simply cannot detect the change.  ?

I just cannot actually tell if this is beef or pork (or check lizard, for that subject).   Pigs are buthered out fresh each and every morning in the wet market and Each and every section of the pig is later set up for sale.  This is in which I bought to see the supply product for sisig getting all set up – generally, they just carve all the meat off the pigs face.  Sounds tough, but it’s in fact very dang good once it is spiced up and fried.  Ummmmm – lami!

All varieties of fresh new fish and shellfish are available in the Dumaguete wet market place – most of it readily available at rock-bottom rates.  The friendly staff there will fillet the fish to your requirements.

I think – believe – these are tuna steaks.  The ideal food I have at any time had in my life was made by Daisy (Ozzie Peter’s much better fifty percent) who put together a kinilaw (cerviche) of yellow fin tuna that they caught that working day in Siaton and new coconut, selfmade vinegar and organic and natural herbs.  I was not way too fond of Filipino up to that level, but it ALL transformed immediately after tasting that kinilaw.   ?

Some form of mollusk.  The identify is on the suggestion of my tongue…. I consider they are a variety of conch.  Got to grab some and cook ’em up sometime….

This was in fact staged.  The weak male was using a break when I came by with the digicam and the woman driving him told him to chop for a image.

This is how the fish arrive in the morning – transported in on small Suzuki multicabs from all the corners of Negros.  Yeah – good stuff

Just further proof that Filipino little ones are the cutest in the total complete earth.  Just saying……

This was taken with our cellphone though we were at Tumolog Falls in Oslob.  Earlier we had swam with the whale sharks, and the falls have been just a hop, skip and leap from there.  The whale sharks and Tumalog Falls are a wonderful working day vacation from Dumaguete or Cebu!

This is the perspective from atop the cafe at Harold’s Mansion.  We typically come right here one evening a 7 days for some very good food items (commonly their pizza which in my humble belief are the finest in Dumaguete).  The night view with the sunlight environment powering Mt. Talinis is simply just stunning.   I like this location!  Harold’s Mansion is also where by I received my scuba certification – ‘sup Ching-Ching?  ?

Surf’s up at the Dumaguete waterfront.  This is “amihan” period, marked by the Trade Winds that occur in from the east and make every little thing basically magnificent.  What a day this was….

Euie and Nikki ended up in excess of 1 working day and I was questioning about the sticks they had in their hair.  Sara defined that they use them as low-cost and easily out there hair curlers.  Organic AND biodegradable – a definite Earn-Earn.

Back watch of the hair curling stems – can a person notify me what they are?  I forgot…..

IMG_20150308_053459Sara selecting up some pasalubong (journey items) for her family as she was on her way property for her father’s birthday.  The whole family was genuinely fortunate to be able to spend time with him and he instructed them all that his happiest moments are when they are all jointly.
